ch-ch-ch-changes

There are a lot of changes happening around here at our little casa. I’ve briefly let you in on our planned addition, and what that will mean for the flooring in the main part of the house {which I’m both excited and a little nervous about for the coordination}. Well, as of August 8th, I will be a full-time stay at home mom! WAHOO! I put my 2 weeks in last week – earlier than expected, but it needed to be done – and that date could not come any sooner. Some of you know that I work for an architecture firm here, and have for 5+ years. I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve learned a lot about the profession through my time. I’ve been given some great opportunities and met some really awesome people, both clients and contractors, but the time has come.

For the last 7 months, I have been burning the candle from three ends – yes, I said three. I’ve been working in the office, either taking Hud with me or leaving him at Mother’s Day out/with babysitters, being a mom, and trying to maintain a little bit of business of my own on the side. The latter of which definitely took a side line for a little while because there just plain wasn’t enough time in the day, or enough energy in my body. It has been difficult, but I’m not complaining. I know there are so many working moms out there and I applaud you all. It’s exhausting and taxing. All I wanted to do was be with my baby, not sitting behind a computer slaving away while counting down the hours until I got to leave to see him.

Working filled in the gaps for us financially for a while and allowed us to save money, cut back on our unnecessary expenses and live comfortably for a while, but it was time. I had come to the point where every day I had to go into the office, I was in a terrible mood, which is an awful way of living. There’s definitely more to the story, but for the sake of this blog, I’m thankful for the {almost} beginning of this new chapter.

With more time on my hands, I will now be able to focus more on doing some of my own interior design work, as I have a line of people wanting “help” here and there. So I’m not totally giving it up and I will maintain my license, I’m just now able to do it on my own terms!

I am so excited and ready for this new start and can’t wait for the transition. For the time being, I will be wrapping up all loose ends and cleaning out my office! On to the next big thing!
